Full Visa Guide to Visit Bali, Indonesia

Since the covid travel ban in Indonesia has been lifted, Bali is officially open for tourists all over the world. We believe you are ready to pack your bag and visit the Land of Gods as soon as possible but hold on, you might need to take care of your visa first. Let’s dive deep into what type of visa do you need to enter Indonesia, to what you need to prepare for your visa to get approved.

Visa Types

You can choose several types of visas according to your preference, needs, and nationality.

Exemption Visa

If you are a passport holder of ASEAN or South East Asia Countries, the Indonesian government guarantees a 30 days entrance for you. This pass is only eligible for tourism purposes and cannot be extended.

Eligible states include Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Brunei, Thailand, The Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.

Visa on Arrival (VoA)

Straight up like its name, you do not need to apply it beforehand. You can apply for this visa on the spot at Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali or any Indonesian international airport you prefer. This visa is only applicable for a direct flight from any state. This one is also a tourist-only visa. Seventy-two countries are eligible for VOA. Those are:

Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech, Denmark, East Timor, Egypt, England, Estonian, Finland, France, Germany Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indian, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbian, Seychelles, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United States of America, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates.

B211A Visa

If you want to stay in Bali for more than 2 months, you can also apply for B211A visa is also a visit visa, tourist visa, or business visa. Unlike the VOA visa, this type is eligible for any states outside the 72 countries that have been mentioned. With this visa, you will be granted 60 days of stay, suitable for direct and indirect flights. You can use this visa for business and tourism purposes. It's also transferable and e converted to another type of stay permit.

What do you need to prepare?

For ASEAN and the passport holder from the previously mentioned states above, you must bring yourself, your passport, and pocket money for your dream vacation in Bali. Still, suppose you are applying for a B211A visa. In that case, you will need a passport scan, a passport-style photo, and a vaccine certificate that proves you’ve been vaccinated at least twice with any vaccine available.

How to Extend and How Long?

ASEAN passport holders are not allowed to extend their visas. After 30 days, you must go out of the country before entering again. VOA holders are eligible to extend their visa once and will grant another month to stay. For a B211A visa, you can extend it twice, each for 60 days, so that you will be awarded a total of 180 days of stay.
