Geographically speaking, Indonesia is located in a very strategic location with a beautiful landscape of the most amazing beaches, volcanic mountains, stunning waterfalls, and so much more. However, most of this beauty is still hidden from the world since most people only know Bali. In the spirit of Indonesia Independence day, JOOi would love to introduce the beauty of Indonesia to our JOOibuds there. Indonesia is an archipelago country with more than 17,000 islands, from Sabang to Merauke. Indonesia has 33 provinces with diverse cultures and beliefs as well as very diverse languages. Due to this fact, you can imagine how many gorgeous places haven't been discovered and shown to the world. However in 2021 Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has come up with 5 super priority destinations, from the biggest Buddhist monument in the world to the island of Komodo Dragon, and those are:

  1. Borobudur Temple - Central Java

Let’s start with Java Island. On this island we have the stunning Borobudur temple, which is the world’s biggest Buddhist monument in the world, The temple is perched majestically on a hill with a view of far-off hills and lush green plains. The temple was constructed between AD 780 and 840 during the rule of the Syailendra dynasty, and its Gupta architectural style displays India's influence on the area. However, enough native sceneries and components have been added to make Borobudur distinctly Indonesian. Aside from that, Central Java also has tons of other interesting places to visit, and one of them is Yogyakarta. This city is widely known for the famous Malioboro street which will take you back in time. Keraton Yogyakarta is another must-visit place on our list, this traditional Javanese palace offers more than just gorgeous architecture but also a traditional puppet show called Wayang Kulit that will tell you a lot about Indonesian history, and tradition.

  1. Lake Toba - North Sumatra

The island of Sumatra has its very own Lake Toba. In the middle of this massive crater lake sits an island that is almost the size of Singapore. In actuality, Lake Toba is more like an ocean because of its size of over 1,145 square kilometers and 450-meter depth. It is also one of the deepest lakes in the world. This lake is the biggest in Southeast Asia. Sumatra also has the tallest volcano mountain in the country, standing around 3,800 high Mount Kerinci is popular among mountain climbers. Mount Kerinci's other names are Indrapura Peak, Mountain Tower, Volcano Kurinci, and Korinci. Climbers love this mountain because the route to the top is easy to follow. Overlooking the sunrise on top of the tallest volcano in Indonesia will be something that you won’t forget for a long time.

  1. Labuan Bajo - Nusa Tenggara

Labuan Bajo is located in the East Nusa Tenggara area and is a serene vacation destination that is situated near the western tip of Flores Island. In addition, it acts as a gateway to Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the infamous Komodo Dragon. Additionally, you might visit several well-known locations in Labuan Bajo, such as Pink Beach, Padar Island, Manjerite Island, and Manta Point. While traveling to Labuan Bajo, a luxury holiday can be a choice, Labuan Bajo is so much more than just a gateway to Komodo Island. Today, tons of luxurious resorts and villas are standing tall around the city. However the main attraction of Labuan Bajo is their luxurious cruise trip, there are three main islands to visit on this journey, which are Rinca, Pandar, and Komodo Island.

  1. Mandalika - Lombok

The beautiful white sand beaches with a view of the sparkling Indian Ocean run for miles along the south coast of the lovely island of Lombok. There is captivating scenery and rolling hills in the backdrop. This is Mandalika, formerly known only to surfers, which has now become the island's recreational hub. There are a variety of attractions for you to enjoy in the special tourism economic zone, including lively bars and nightclubs, exhilarating racetracks, thrilling water parks, opulent hotels and resorts, interesting golf courses, and soothing spas. Mandalika gained more fame after the grand MotoGP World Championship 2022 was held on Mandalika's very own circuit. There are a total of 17 corners on the 4,310-meter-long Mandalika circuit. The circuit is asymmetrical, meaning that more turns are made in one direction than the other. Only 6 left-hand turns exist compared to 11 right-hand turns. The main track is just 507 meters long, but because the majority of the corners are swift, it would qualify as a fast track given its relatively high average speed. The location of Mandalika is another distinctive aspect. It is situated at sea level in the southern part of the island, and turn 10 on the circuit is a few hundred meters from the shore and offers breathtaking views.

  1. Likupang - North Sulawesi

Likupang Beach is one of the greatest spots to visit in North Sulawesi. Likupang Beach will take your breath away the moment you see it, with its magnificent and broad white sandy beach. It also features lovely pure saltwater and a variety of other tourist attractions. You may also dive to see the underwater landscape that will fascinate you. North Sulawesi, is well-known for its breathtaking natural wonders. The beaches, hilly mountains, and beautiful jungles are the attractions that distinguish this location from other islands in Indonesia. With the vast growing recognition of sustainability in every aspect, the Indonesian government is eager to develop Likupang to be one of Indonesia's ecotourism destinations. Indonesia Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno stated that the big plan for optimizing Likupang potential to be a sustainable tourism destination should be ready by 2023. With the idea of maritime community-based ecotourism, Bahoi Village District West Likupang North Minahasa District is one place that has promise for turning this big project into reality.
